There can't be many more beautiful
settings for a race course than the one at Chepstow. Set in
440 acres of glorious Wye Valley countryside. Located on the
outskirts of the historic border town yet despite its rural setting
is only a few miles from the M4 motorway meaning access couldn't be
easier.
Horse racing has been held here since 1926 and is one of only 3
racecourses in Wales. Chepstow hosts a number of prestigious
meetings throughout the year both on the flat and over jumps.
The highlight of the calendar is the Welsh Grand National held each
December.
And you can get a taste of the action when the racecourse throws
open its doors for free this Tuesday (25 October 2011). The
first race is at 2:10pm.
7 races are packed into an afternoon's session and offers families
the chance to see the horses up close in the parade ring, spot the
jockeys walking amongst the crowd and get wrapped up in the thrill
of the sport. It is the perfect family day out - there's even
free ice cream for the kids.
