Just weeks before they compete at the London 2012
Olympics, the world's best canoeists descend on Cardiff for the ICF
Canoe Slalom World Cup.
Held from 8-10 June at the Cardiff International White Water
Centre, professional paddlers from all corners of the World will
battle a 300 metre course of ferocious rapids, hidden obstacles and
25 gates in a competition to get home in the fastest time. It will
be an adrenalin fuelled race of speed and skill.
And when the professionals have gone home why not have a go on the
rapids yourself. Don't worry, they'll be toned down a couple of
notches for you as the flow of water is controlled depending on the
expertise of those taking part.
It's not just canoeing either. The centre offers a whole host of
white water activities including the ever popular white water
rafting and river boarding, where the brave (or foolish) descend
the rapids clinging on to nothing more than a float while getting
tossed from side to side. It actually looks quite good fun!

The Wales Millennium Centre is no stranger to hosting big
productions and have in the past put on musicals such as Les
Miserables, Mary Poppins, Mama Mia and the Sound of Music.
And never ones to miss an opportunity, take a look at how the
brilliant marketing team at the centre announced the Sound of Music
on the streets of Cardiff 2 years ago. I wonder what they'll
come up with this year.
