Another of the Cardiff
Festival events gets underway this weekend with the
Welsh Proms at the city's St David's Hall.
Now in its 26th year, the Proms run for over a week as
the hall buzzes with a variety of different music, ranging from
some of the city's youngest and most talented musicians to
international quality symphony concerts.
Taking place from 8-16 July, this year's Proms includes free
performances, family events and huge orchestral concerts from the
Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Cardiff Philharmonic Orchestra and
the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera.
As well as the main concerts there are also a series of free
daytime proms including the Tiddly Prom aimed at families.
And of course no Prom would be complete with out the traditional
Last Night of the Welsh Proms which rounds things off with an
evening of Welsh pride and song on 16 July.
