Say Cheese!

What do you get if you take 100s of keen, amateur photographers 12 hours to take 12 pictures on 12 different topics? The answer - Cardiff's 6th Phtomarathon.

Photomarathons are popular throughout Europe (and now Cardiff) and from 10:00am on Saturday 400 people will gather at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay for this photography competition with a twist.

They will be given the topics on which to base their photographs and they must only shoot one image per topic in the exact order in which the topics are listed.  The entrants will then head off all over Cardiff in search of the perfect picture to fit each category.  Improvisation, fun and creativity are all important in order to succeed in the Photomarathon.

Judges will decide the winner and all 4800 images taken on the day will feature in a special exhibition at Cardiff's Old Library later in the summer.

Happy Birthday Techniquest

Happy Birthday Techniquest.  Cardiff's fantastic science discovery centre is now 25 years old.

It's come along way since it's humble beginnings in a warehouse on the site where the Wales Millennium Centre now stands.  Still in Cardiff Bay but now in it's own purpose built complex it is one of the best hands on science centres in the country.

Take a look at this and see for yourself:

Wales Will Rock You

The brilliant Wales Millennium Centre launches it's latest big name musical tonight as We Will Rock You comes to Cardiff Bay.

After playing to packed audiences in London for 9 years the show based on the music of rock band Queen finally hits the road and first stop is Cardiff.  The show will run at the centre until 17 April.

The Wales Millennium Centre is no stranger to hosting big productions and have in the past put on musicals such as Les Miserables, Mary Poppins, Mama Mia and the Sound of Music.  And never ones to miss an opportunity, take a look at how the brilliant marketing team at the centre announced the Sound of Music on the streets of Cardiff 2 years ago.  I wonder what they'll come up with this year.
