Following on from the success of last year's competition, the Canoe Slalom World Cup returns to the Cardiff International White Water Centre again this year.

This top class competition sees the world's best canoeists go head to head over the ferocious rapids and will test the very best as they tackle a testing course of obstacles and gates.

Organised by International Canoe Federation, the Cardiff event is one of several rounds as part of the World Cup Series with other events taking part in Germany, Spain and Slovenia.

Tickets for the event are available from the official website and if you find yourself inspired to give it a go you can find out more about the venue at the Cardiff International White Water website.

And just to whet you're appetite take a look at the 2012 promo video - 2013 promises to be just as exciting.

World Cup Comes to Cardiff

Just weeks before they compete at the London 2012 Olympics, the world's best canoeists descend on Cardiff for the ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup.

Held from 8-10 June at the Cardiff International White Water Centre, professional paddlers from all corners of the World will battle a 300 metre course of ferocious rapids, hidden obstacles and 25 gates in a competition to get home in the fastest time. It will be an adrenalin fuelled race of speed and skill.

And when the professionals have gone home why not have a go on the rapids yourself. Don't worry, they'll be toned down a couple of notches for you as the flow of water is controlled depending on the expertise of those taking part.

It's not just canoeing either. The centre offers a whole host of white water activities including the ever popular white water rafting and river boarding, where the brave (or foolish) descend the rapids clinging on to nothing more than a float while getting tossed from side to side. It actually looks quite good fun!
