It's been a good week for the county of Bridgend.
Last Saturday saw them take on New York as they attempted to beat
their World Record for
the largest gathering of elves. The record stood
at 610 elves but the people of Bridgend smashed that record as 794
people, sorry I mean elves, gathered on Adare Street.
Then just yesterday it was announced that the star of
Porthcawl Grand Pavilion's annual pantomime, Dave the
Cow, had been voted the best panto cow in the
UK. Speaking after his win Dave said "I'm
udderley mooooved by this accolade and it was a great competion to
win as the steaks were so high"
If you want to catch Dave in action then Jack and the Beanstalk is
running at the Grand Pavilion until 2 January
Help Dave become the UK's number one panto
Porthcawl Grand Pavilion's very own thespian bovine, Dave the Cow,
is appealing for votes to help him win a competition to find the
UK's number one panto cow.
Dave has already beaten off competition from rival panto cows to
become the only Welsh contestant to make it to the final, which is
organised by Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream.
He will now lock horns with the four other remaining panto cows,
but he needs your vote before he can be crowned the nation's
official favourite panto cow.
Dave, who is due to play Daisy the Cow in the Grand Pavilion's
Christmas panto, Jack and the Beanstalk, is clearly no ordinary
cow. A rare pink and blue Friesian, between his gruelling
training regime at the local gym and rehearsals he is handling the
pressure in an udder-ly professional manner.
Dave said: "I am over the mooooon that I have made it to the final
five panto cows in the Ben and Jerry's competition.
"Pantomime is my life, but I am hoping that if I win, it might
unlock all sorts of gates for my career. I might even be able to
make it in the moooovie business!"

You can also see Dave perform live on stage in Jack and the
Beanstalk, which runs from 11 December 2010 to 2 January 2011 at
the Grand Pavilion in Porthcawl.
