What's Your Perfect Day?

It's all very well me writing this blog and telling you about all about the wonderful things you can do in and around Bridgend and Porthcawl.  After all that's my job.  But what do locals love about their area?

Well, our friends at BridgendBites have invited people to film their "Perfect Day" videos.

And what a range of videos they've come up with - golf, shopping, horse riding, mountain biking, quad biking, surfing.  Even fashion designer David Emanuel has got in on the act, reminiscing about how he spent his "Perfect Day" growing up in the area.

So take a look at all the videos by clicking here and let us know what would make your "Perfect Day"

From New South Wales to Old South Wales

Cardiff BayIt's not just who thinks that Cardiff is a superb city.  You know we love our castle, stadium and museums.  But now the appeal of Cardiff is stretching right across the world.

The Australian newspaper recently published an article featuring some of the best things to do in our capital city.  Amongst others they mentioned visiting the locations used for filming Dr Who, shopping in our arcades and heading to the Techniquest science centre.

Christmas Shopping in Southern Wales

christmas marketWith only a month to go until Christmas it's time to hit the shops and get all those presents for family and friends.  And in Southern Wales there's plenty of choice.

There are two out of town designer outlets.  In the heart of the valleys is Festival Park near Ebbw Vale.  There are over 40 shops for you to explore as well as a café and restaurant for you to relax and recharge your batteries.

Just north of Bridgend, on junction 36 of the M4 motorway is the Bridgend Designer Outlet.  There are over 90 high-street and designer brands with up to 60% off and unbeatable discounts all year round.

Cardiff meanwhile is a magnet for shopaholics.  It's brand new shopping centre and pedestrianised city centre makes shopping a pleasure while the city is criss crossed by a number of Victorian arcades which are home to local, independent shops.  Don't miss the Christmas market either.  Situated in the city's castle quarter, beautifully decked in exquisite decorations, banners and festive lights.  The area is filled with alpine-style wooden chalets and stalls laden with festive foods, hand-crafted, unique Christmas gifts and fortifying glasses of mulled wine.

Festival Park Shopping Village

Festival Park Shopping Village in Ebbw Vale is one of two branded designer outlets in Southern Wales.  It is home to over 40 high street shops all under one roof.  Amongst others you will find Nike, M&S and Gap all selling some of their latest goods at discounted prices.

There's plenty to keep you occupied if shopping is not your thing.  It is situated in a 70 acre parkland setting in the heart of the Southern Wales Valleys.  There are cafes and restaurants to keep you fed and watered and even an owl sanctuary.

And it is also home to the UK's longest super tubing track.  Super what????  Take a look at these:
